For generations, saunas have been a source of warmth, well-being and mental peace. As interest in health and relaxation grows, several different types of saunas have come onto the market, including traditional saunas and infrared saunas. But while both types have their own advantages, at Sauna House we have chosen to focus on the traditional sauna.
In this post, we explain the difference between the two types and why we believe that the traditional sauna provides the most complete and effective experience for you.
What is a traditional sauna?
A traditional sauna, also called a Finnish sauna, heats the room using a stove that heats stones to temperatures typically between 70 and 100°C. When you pour water over the stones, steam is formed, which increases the humidity and creates an intense heat experience. It is this combination of dry heat and steam that gives the classic sauna sensation, which feels both physically and mentally cleansing.
At Sauna House we have several different saunas, each with its own atmosphere. We offer daily sauna steam sessions, where heat and aromatherapy are combined in a guided, sensual experience. Here, water with essential oils is poured over the hot stones, while the steam master distributes the steam with rhythmic movements. An experience for both body and mind.
What is an infrared sauna?
An infrared sauna works completely differently than a traditional one. It does not heat the air, but uses infrared rays that penetrate the body and heat tissues and muscles from the inside. The temperature is significantly lower, typically around 40-60°C, and therefore feels milder, making it popular with people with heat sensitivity or certain physical challenges.
Although infrared heat can have its benefits, it is a very different experience, and it is important to emphasize that Sauna House does not offer infrared saunas. Instead, we have chosen to specialize in the classic sauna universe, where the social, the sensual, and the intense are allowed to take center stage.
Why we choose traditional sauna at Sauna House
Our choice is simple: The traditional sauna creates a holistic experience where heat, steam, scents and rituals are combined.
Advantages of a traditional sauna at Sauna House:
-
Intense heat and sweat, which promotes cleansing and increased blood circulation.
-
Saunagus with essential oils that stimulate the senses and create mental peace.
-
Social and sensual experience where you can share the silence and warmth with others.
-
Combine with a cold water bath, which completes the ritual and strengthens the body.
-
Designed spaces that invite calm, reflection and contemplation
Our saunas are created to give you a complete break from everyday life, where you can feel yourself, without disturbances, in heat, steam and silence.

Sauna and cold water
At Sauna House we also have cold water tubs, which give you the opportunity to experience the powerful contrast between heat and cold. When you go directly from the intense heat of the sauna into the icy water, your body's circulation, immune system and mental focus are activated. This transition is not only a refreshing experience, it is also documented to be health-promoting and an important element of the classic sauna ritual.
Which sauna style suits you best?
This of course depends on your preferences and needs, but if you want an authentic experience based on thousands of years of traditions, a sensual and guided sauna experience with fragrance and intense heat, or want to completely relax in a community with a focus on tranquility, then the traditional sauna at Sauna House is the right choice for you.

Experience real warmth
